The Egyptian army shoulders greater responsibility towards protecting national security from terrorist threats and extremist groups, Defense Minister Sedki Sobhi said on Tuesday.

During a visit to inspect an artillery unit, the minister lauded their vital role in fighting terrorist organizations.

The minister asserted that the military forces would eliminate all terrorist and Takfiri groups from Sinai.

"Extremism would never deter us from building our homeland and achieving progressive accomplishments."

During the visit, Sobhi held dialogue with officers and soldiers at the military site, hailing their efforts in maintaining security.
