Egypt's Ambassador to Austria Khaled Shamaa has chaired a seminar marking Africa Day.

The seminar focused on efforts by the UN to achieve industrial development in Africa.

A statement by the Foreign Ministry said Wednesday that the executive director of the UN Industrial Development Organization said UNIDO fully supports efforts to achieve comprehensive industrial development in African countries, believing it is the most successful means to achieve sustainable economic and social development and reduce poverty and unemployment.

He reviewed the different UNIDO programs in Africa, which are being implemented in cooperation with partners concerned in the fields of new and renewable energy.

He also praised cooperation between UNIDO and the African Union.

UNIDO supports the AU development agenda that should be completed by 2063, he added.
