Kuwait City - MENA
A high-ranking Egyptian delegation led by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry will attend the third donors conference in Kuwait Tuesday.
Egyptian Ambassador in Kuwait Abdel Kerim Seliman told MENA Monday Egypt was among countries that hosted big numbers of Syrians who had fled the war at home.
He praised the role played by Kuwait to alleviate the suffering of the Syrian people by hosting this summit for the third time.
Thousands of hundreds of Syrians have been internally and externally displaced by the conflict which is entering its fifth year, Seliman said.
They are living in very difficult circumstances and do not get their basic needs of food, medicine and housing, he added.
Hosting the event, Kuwait is extending a helping hand to those in need, the diplomat said, noting this is characteristic of Kuwait and its emir, who is "a humanitarian leader" as described by the UN.
Preparations are over for the conference, Seliman said.
He said that Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah al Ahmed al Jaber al Sabah had urged participants to make big contributions so that international organizations and host countries could alleviate the suffering of Syrians and improve their living conditions.
