The Interior Ministry is following up investigations into the death of a lawyer in Cairo's Matariya police station, the spokesman for the ministry said on Thursday.
The lawyer, who is affiliated to a terrorist cell, was arrested in possession of firearms in the densely-populated neighborhood of Matariya, Hani Abdel Latif told MENA.
The prosecution is currently investigating the incident, he added.
"Policemen are in a fierce war against terrorism and mistakes may be committed," he noted, asserting that wrongdoers should be held accountable.
