The Interior Ministry denounced the assassination of Prosecutor General Hisham Barakat in a terror attack on Monday.

Barakat was a great model and example of dedication in work and sacrifice, the ministry said in a statement.

Egypt’s top prosecutor was killed after a highly explosive charge hit his motorcade earlier Monday in Nozha district of eastern Cairo.
