Defense Minister Sedqi Sobhi on Saturday ordered a navy unit to head for Msebret island to take part in search for 12 Egyptian fishermen who went missing after their boat sank off Sudan's shores.
The decision came upon directives Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the Supreme commander of the Egyptian Armed Forces.
Earlier in the day, an Egyptian boat drifted into the Sudanese territorial waters due to strong winds and sent an SOS signal before it sank.
The Sudanese coastal guards rescued two young fishermen and search operations for the other 12 are underway.
Sudanese navy forces are searching for more survivors.
