Security forces continued wide-scale campaigns to confront acts of thuggery, arrest outlaws and seize firearms and unlicensed weapons.

Security forces seized 8,989 arms, including machine-guns, pistols and locally-made guns over the past three months.

Police also seized 446 criminal gangs accused of armed robbery, rape, kidnap, premeditated murder, illegal possession of arms and drug trafficking.

The security campaign, led by Assistant Interior Minister for Public Security Sector Kamal el Dali, aims at restoring security and order to Egyptian streets.
