Attack on Shiite mosque in Kuwait

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi telephoned on Friday Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah to condemn the blast that targeted a Shiite mosque in Kuwait earlier in the day.

"Egypt condemns all terrorist attacks that seek to destabilize the Arab region," Sisi was quoted as saying by presidential spokesman Alaa Youssef.

"Such terrorist attacks have nothing to do with Islam," Sisi said. He further expressed condolences to families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery.

The Kuwaiti emir said both Egypt and Kuwait are determined to stand together against terrorism.

According to a statement by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Interior, at least 25 people were killed and 202 others wounded in the blast that targeted the Shiite Al Sadeq Mosque earlier in the day.
