President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's recent visit to Russia and his meeting with his Russian counterpart Valdimir Putin figured high in his activity this week.
During their meeting, both leaders asserted their commitment to support bilateral military cooperation at all levels, as well as terrorism-combat efforts.
Both leaders also lauded the current level of bilateral military cooperation, especially in the fields of training and joint armed maneuvers.
As for terrorism combat, the Russian president affirmed Egypt's pivotal role with regard to efforts to defeat terrorism, noting that Russia would always fully support Egypt on this track.
Within this context, both presidents also highlighted the importance of concerted efforts of the international community, especially with the spread of terrorist and extremist groups in a number of regions around the world.
An expanded meeting followed the Sisi-Putin talks to include members of both countries' delegations.
During the meeting, Sisi said the history of military cooperation between Egypt and Russia represented a base for developing bilateral relations in this field.
