President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has issued a republican decree to amend some penal code articles.

Law No. 21/2015 punishes in life imprisonment all those who dig, prepare, equip or use a road or tunnel at the borders in an attempt to contact a foreign party or state or members of a foreign entity or inhabitants or allowed in or exited persons or goods, commodities or equipment or any thing else across borders.

The law also punishes in the same penalty all those who learnt of the crime and did not report it to the authorities.
