The national standing committee for human rights under Transitional Justice and House of Representatives Affairs Minister Ibrahim el Heneidy dismissed a report that accused Egypt of widespread human rights violations as deliberate distortion of reality.

New York-based Human Rights Watch released a statement on Monday titled “Egypt: Year of Abuses Under Sisi” saying Egypt had witnessed “flagrant abuse of human rights” in the name of restoring stability since Abdel Fattah El Sisi assumed presidential office in June 2014.

In a statement Thursday, the committee said that the report used terms that suggest the existence of a legal and political status contrary to the truth.

The committee also said that report lacks the basic tenants of accuracy, adding that it attempts to undermine efforts exerted in promoting human rights in Egypt.

It also criticized the report's attempt to challenge Egyptian judiciary rulings and to question its integrity without any evidence.

The committee strongly condemned attempts to incite the international community against Egypt and its people.
