Egyptian Naval Forces

The Egyptian Naval Forces and Saudi Royal Naval Forces are carrying out a joint naval drill, Morjan 15, in the Red Sea.
Egyptian and Saudi naval units will undertake force deployment in the Red Sea and hold joint tactical maneuvers in formations and air defense drills.
Navy ships, helicopters, speedboats, submarines and maritime security units are taking part in the maneuvers.
The exercise simulates a real theater of operations in naval warfare.
The participating forces have been divided into two groups that include elements from each side, a statement by the Egyptian Armed Forces said Tuesday.
One of the groups acted as an enemy caught in territorial waters, the statement said
Naval units have been formed to take part in a battle against hostile targets and destroy them using the most advanced methods, the statement added.
It praised high skills and accuracy of the troops in hitting and handling targets.
The troops also carried out a raid on a hostile coast with the aim to destroy hostile facilities and eliminate a group of terrorists who were supposedly plotting to conduct hostile and sabotage acts, the statement said.
The troops also engaged in a maritime interception of a ship suspected to have violated navigation laws, it added.
The exercises are part of joint drills the Egyptian Armed Forces are conducting with sisterly and friendly countries, the statement said.
