A joint military-police operation in North Sinai governorate left "two terrorists" dead and 11 others arrested, spokesman of the Egyptian Armed Forces Col. Ahmad Mohammad Ali said Saturday.The security operation, led by the Second Field Army, targeted "takfiri elements" (Muslims accusing others of apostasy) in Al-Moqataa and Al-Taweel villages, near Al-Arish city, and Rafah city near the borders with Gaza Strip, Col. Ali said in a press release.He noted that 16 houses and 10 cottages, used to launching pads for terrorist attacks against the army and the police forces, have been destroyed in the operation.The security forces also destroyed four tunnels - used for cross-border smuggling activities, and seized 30 rounds of ammunition, two machineguns, two hand grenades, three vehicles, 22 unlicensed motorbikes and a number of banned communication equipment, he added.Earlier today Col. Ali said the border guards of the western military command intercepted 93 illegal immigrants - 89 Egyptians and two Sudanese, and referred them to the concerned security agencies.
