Security services have been heightened in all metro stations, especially those close to downtown Cairo, Assistant Interior Minister el Sayed Gadul Haq said.
In an interview with MENA, the security official said the transport police will be provided with 120 bomb detectors and X-ray machines to be installed at metro and train stations in the coming period.
The transport police department has already received 42 bomb detectors and coordination is underway with the civil defense department to organize training courses for police members on the new devices, Gadul Haq said.
Speaking about security measures to secure Sadat Metro station in downtown Cairo, which was reopened on Wednesday, he said surveillance cameras have been installed in the station.
