Cairo - MENA
The Egyptian people have played a big role in the completion of the New Suez Canal project in such a record time, said assistant chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Mohamed Magdy Abdel Samie Thursday.
The people's contribution to the project started with the announcement of digging operations, Abdel Samie told Egypt's Channel One.
They put their money into projects to develop the Suez Canal, he said, noting that this reflects the ability of Egyptians to implement mega projects in a short time.
Abdel Samie said he is happy about the inauguration ceremony.
Other projects will be announced, he told the TV channel, citing a fishery project the SCA is implementing at sediment basins east of the canal.
It is one of the biggest fish farming projects in the world, Abdel Samie noted.
The project will increase fish production to reach about 150 tons daily, he said.
