Cairo - MENA
The Awqaf Ministry has decided to ban any parliamentary candidates from delivering speeches or giving religious lessons at mosques.
The ban should last until the electoral process is over.
It is meant to prevent candidates from conducting electoral campaigns through mosques.
Mosques should not be used as political platforms, the Ministry said in a statement Monday.
Senior officials at the Awqaf Ministry will also have to give up their top posts once they run in the parliamentary polls.
Awqaf Ministry officials should also submit an official leave before submitting their candidacy applications or else be referred to a disciplinary panel and suspended.
