Egypt is following up with great interest and concern the tragic conditions in Syria and the continuation of killing and destruction operations, as well as the spread of terrorist organizations, Foreign Ministry spokesman Badr Abdel Ati said.

In a press release on Tuesday, the spokesman said that Egypt backs efforts for combating terrorist organizations inside Syria in line with the international legitimacy resolutions.

Hundreds of thousands were killed and wounded in Syria during the past four years as a result of fighting among warring groups, as well as the attacks launched by the Assad regime on militants across the country.
