The Cassation Court annulled on Sunday the detention of Mubarak-era information minister Anas El Fiqi and ordered a retrial over charges of illicit gains.
Fiqi will be tried before another circuit of the Cairo Criminal Court.
The Cairo Criminal Court handed down a one-year suspended sentence against Fiqi and fined him 1.8 million pounds.
Investigations proved that Fiqi abused his ministerial powers to amass a fortune of 33 million pounds that did not commensurate with his legal sources of income.
