Al-Nour Party candidate Abdel Salam Abdel Maqsoud

The Administrative Court in Alexandria upheld a decision by the High Elections Committee to expel Al Nour Party candidate Abdel Salam Abdel Maqsoud from the parliamentary elections after his wife refused to sign a financial disclosure record form.

The court said that every citizen has the right to be a member of parliament but must disclose the financial record for all family members.

The High Elections Committee had announced that the long-awaited parliamentary election will be held in two stages in October and November.

The poll had been scheduled for March and April but was delayed by a Supreme Court ruling that part of an electoral law was unconstitutional. The ruling struck down part of the law that defined electoral districts.
