Ambassador Hisham Bad

Egypt's efforts in the field of human rights come in response to popular demands from the January 25 and July 30 revolutions, said Assistant Foreign Minister for Multilateral Affairs and International Security Ambassador Hisham Badr.

Badr's remark was made during his meeting Monday with US Assistant Secretary of State for International Security and Nonproliferation Thomas Countryman and US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Tom Malinowski.

The meeting came as part of following up the strategic dialogue between Egypt and the US.

During his meeting with Countryman, Badr tackled cooperation between Egypt and the US in field of combating terrorism along with the outcome of the 2015 Review Conference of the Parties to the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), which was held in New York in May.

Badr, meanwhile, discussed with Malinowski Egypt's efforts in field of supporting human rights and the constitution's role in strengthening the role of the NGOs in the country.

Badr also underlined the importance of the Egyptian-US dialogue to exchange viewpoints and promote cooperation in this respect.
