Mecca - Arab Today
Egypt's Assistant Interior Minister for Administrative Affairs and executive chairman of official hajj mission Sayed Maher stressed on Wednesday that all Egyptian lottery pilgrims successfully ascended to Arafat Mount where Prophet Mohammed delivered his final sermon, asking for God's forgiveness and mercy.
Maher told MENA that buses ferried Egyptian lottery pilgrims from the tent city of Mina to Arafat Mount.
He added that tents in Arafat were made from a German material this year and they were supplied with air-conditioners to guarantee the comfort of pilgrims given high temperature degrees.
Even the 19 pilgrims who were being treated in Mecca hospitals were ferried via ambulances to Arafat Mount, he added.
Chanting "Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik", pilgrims proceeded to Arafat Mount on foot or by bus or train.
Saudi authorities have prepared an integrated traffic plan to help ease the pilgrims’ path from the tent city of Mina to Mount Arafat.
The Chinese-built Al-Mashaaer Al-Mugaddassah Metro (Metro Mecca), which is now in service, ferried pilgrims from the white tent city of Mina to Arafat Mount where they will spend the day till sunset.
From Arafat Mount, pilgrims will move to Muzdalifah, where they will collect pebbles to be tossed at three stones representing Satan.
Following the stoning, pilgrims will sacrifice animals on the first day of Eidul Adha, joining millions of other Muslims around the world.
The Hajj is one the five major pillars, or tenets, of Islam that followers of the religion must abide by.
