Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab on Tuesday sent a cable of congratulations to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi on the occasion of the inauguration of the New Suez Canal on Thursday.

In the cable, the Premier said the new waterway, which will reduce the waiting time from 11 to 3 hours for most ships, will revive world economy and increase the volume of trade exchange among world countries.

Mahlab hailed Egyptians' contribution to this giant project and the efforts made by workers at the New Suez Canal to complete the project in record time.
