Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam will hold a press conference Tuesday to announce the establishment of the largest fatwa gathering worldwide.

Allam will officially announce the establishment of the general secretariat of world fatwa bodies under the auspices of Egypt's Dar al Iftaa.

The general secretariat will be chaired by Egypt's Mufti.

The establishment of the new fatwa institution is a pure Egyptian initiative that aims to put an end to fatwa chaos and intellectual extremism, Ibrahim Negm, an adviser to Egypt's Mufti Shawqi Allam said in a statement Sunday.
