Al Azhar depends on its graduates to propagate moderate Islam based on pluralism, acceptance of others, peace, co-existence among different cultures, its Grand Imam Ahmed El Tayyeb said on Tuesday.
Also, the highest Sunni authority relies on them to face extremist thought and correct the wrong image of Islam, he added.
He made the remarks during a meeting with a Malaysian delegation headed by Chairman of the World Association for Al Azhar Graduates Professor Mohamed Fakher El Din.
The Malaysian delegation asserted that Al Azhar curriculum is the bulwark against extremist thought and against any attempts to tarnish the Sharia Law.
Furthermore, they called for boosting cooperation with Al Azhar.
