The High Steering Committee following up on the condition of Syrian refugees met Monday under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Abdullah Ensour.
The committee was briefed by the Director of the Syrian Refugee Camps’ Affairs Department Waddah Hmoud on shouldering the burden in hosting 1.4 million registered refugees after the crisis erupted in Syria.
He noted that the educational sector was negatively affected and the education ministry had received tens of thousands of children of Syrian refugees, for which two shifts were adopted to tackle this large number.
Hmoud said that as of last month 108 security centers installed the eye print system to provide refugees with a service card.
Minister of Water and Irrigation Hazem Nasser and Minister of Public Works and Housing Sami Halaseh briefed the committee about the services offered by their ministries to the refugees.
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Imad Fakhoury also briefed the committee about the procedures implemented by his ministry in setting the 2015 Jordan Response Plan (JRP) and coordinating with donors in this regard.
The JRP has three main agendas refugees, hosting societies and covering government's expenditures.
