The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church honored the Ethiopian Christian martyrs and Egyptian Copts who were slain by Daesh in Libya.

The Church decided to grant them the title of "martyrs of 21st century" which is an honor grade of martyrdom.

This comes in light of Egypt's successful efforts to evacuate some Ethiopians from Libya and the progress of the Egyptian-Ethiopian ties in the different domains.
