Islamist Fajr Libya operation (Dawn of Libya) led by General Khalifa Haftar announced its support for Fayez el Serag to chair the national consensus government of Libya according to the agreement reached by UN envoy Bernandino Leon.

Serag did not make any statements on his nomination for chairing the consensus government of Libya.

Head of the Media Committee at the Libya Parliament Galal el-Shewehdi has previously made statements that the majority of the parliament members are backing the nomination of Serag and that the parliament is scheduled to hold an important session to discuss the proposals of the UN envoy to form the government.
