Gharbia security chief Osama Bedeir on Saturday said a report on a dubious object near Mahala police station proved to be hoax.
Security bodies reported a dubious object was found, so police cordoned off the scene, and bomb disposal experts combed the area, Bedeir said.
The dubious object was found to be free of explosives, he added.
