The forces of the People's National Army (ANP) under the operational area of Bordj Badji Mokhtar arrested four people coming from Mali and seized in Tamanrasset, a quantity of fuel intended for smuggling, the ministry of National Defence said Tuesday in a communiqué.
"As part of border security and the fight against smuggling and organized crime, a detachment of the forces of the People's National Army under the operational area of Bordj Badji Mokhtar/6th Military Region, arrested four Algerian (04) people coming from In Khalil (Mali) and seized an all-terrain vehicle," the source added.
"Another detachment, under the operational sector of Tamanrasset, seized a quantity of 1,400 liters of fuel intended for smuggling," the statement stated.
"Moreover, units of Algiers Regional Coastguard Task Force rescued on 22 November 2014 at 9:40 p.m., two (02) Algerian people who were trapped aboard their boat off the sea, two (02) miles north of the two of Baïnem. The rescue operation was successfully carried out after two semi-rigid boats went to evacuate the two individuals who are now safe and sound," the ministry affirmed.
