Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has directed the bodies concerned to follow up media reports about the sinking of an Egyptian fishing boat in the Sudanese territorial waters, said a well-placed official with the Egyptian foreign ministry.
Earlier in the day, an Egyptian boat drifted into the Sudanese territorial waters due to strong winds and sent an SOS signal before it sank.
The Sudanese coastal guards rescued two young fishermen and search operations for the other 12 are underway.
Egyptian Consul General in Port Sudan Hani Bassioni paid a visit to the two survivors at hospital to check on them.
