New York - MENA
Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry has reiterated Egypt’s firm stance regarding creating the Middle East nuclear weapon free zone.
Egypt has called for applying this proposal several decades ago, said Shoukry during a meeting held with head of the second main committee of the 2015 Review Conference of the Treaty of Nuclear Non-Proliferation.
He called on the international community to show the necessary seriousness to enforce resolution no. 1995 regarding the establishment of the Middle East nuclear weapon free zone, said Badr Abdel Ati, spokesman for the Foreign Ministry.
The meeting tackled the ongoing preparation for holding the conference, which will kick off on Monday.
The meeting also covered the Iranian nuclear file in light of the last framework agreement between Iran and the world powers.
