Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the Federal National Council (FNC), has received Mohamed Ait Ouali, Ambassador of Morocco to the UAE, to discuss avenues of joint co-operation and a variety of issues of mutual interest.
The two sides stressed the need for establishing a joint parliamentary friendship committee to strengthen parliamentary ties and coordinate the Emirati-Moroccan stances in regional and international parliamentary gatherings. They also valued the existing bilateral co-operation in the light of the highly delicate and sensitive circumstances the region was passing through which, they affirmed, need further joint co-ordination to tackle them so as to ensure the security of the two countries.
Al Qubaisi said Morocco is a strategic partner of the UAE and the two countries share identical points of view towards regional and international topics of mutual concern.
She also noted the high level of joint co-ordination and co-operation on different political issues in support of regional and international security and stability.
For his part, the Moroccan Ambassador congratulated Al Qubaisi on being elected president of the FNC and becoming the first woman to lead a parliament in the Arab and Middle East region.
''The UAE has set a shining example of respect and empowerment of women who have reached advanced stages in various walks of life, notably in political participation, thanks to the support extended to them by the state and leadership,'' he said.
