Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry's visit to Russia is of special importance in light of the progress in the Egyptian-Russian ties, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid. 

Abu Zeid, meanwhile, pointed out to the bilateral projects between Egypt and Russia, topped by the nuclear power plant project in Dabaa.

The economic and commercial ties between Egypt and Russia witnessed remarkable development during last year, as the volume of trade exchange reached about 2.8 billion dollars, said the spokesman. 

During his visit to Moscow, Shoukry met with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, Russian State Duma Speaker Sergey Naryshkin . 
Shoukry is also scheduled to meet with the Russian trade and industry minister, who is the head of the Russian side in the Egyptian-Russian joint committee along with the Russian deputy prime minister. 

He will also be interviewed by Russia Today Channel and Russian 24. 

Shoukry's talks with the Russian officials will also deal with ways to return Russian tourists to Egypt's resorts, added the spokesman. 

Talks will also tackle several regional files, topped by the conditions in Syria, Libya, Yemen and the Palestinian cause along with efforts to combat terrorism at regional and international levels, he added.
