A funeral was held in Qalubiya on Saturday for an army soldier who was killed in a drive-by shooting in Cairo on Friday.
Serviceman Mostafa Abdel Aziz Elawa was killed when militants opened fire on a car carrying a brigadier general and two soldiers in Gesr el-Suez neighborhood in eastern Cairo.
A large number of residents and security officials of Qalubiya province attended the funeral.
Qalubiya Governor Mohamed Abdel Zaher mourned the victim in a statement issued by the governorate.
