A military funeral was held for non-commissioned police officer Aql Mohamed Mostafa who was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Sohag earlier on Friday.

The body was wrapped by the Egyptian flag, and the military music was played in the funeral which was led by Sohag Governor Ahmed Abul Fotouh and senior security officials in the governorate.

Thousands of residents of Tahta city attended the funeral.

The policeman on a motorbike was shot dead while he was making his way from his workplace at Tahta police station to his house in a nearby village.
