GCC Secretary-General Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid al-Zayani

GCC Secretary-General Abdullatif Al-Zayani has strongly condemned recent attacks that hit Yemen's Sanaa and Aden.
Al-Zayani said in a statement that such "terrorist heinous acts" only aimed to undermine the country's security, stability and constitutional legitimacy, to trigger off sectarian strife and to jeopardize the Yemeni people's social fabric and national unity.
He condemned the recent attack on the presidential palace in Aden and suicide attacks as "terrorist attacks" that run counter with Islamic and human values and principles, and aim to throw Yemen into a cycle of continuing conflicts and infighting.
The GCC chief urged all Yemeni political rivals to seek to resolve their country's ongoing crisis in a wise manner far from the use of force so as to fend off sectarian tensions and conflicts.
He also expressed hope that all political groups in Yemen would attend a planned conference for Yemen in the Saudi capital under the umbrella of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
The GCC member states had agreed to host a meeting for Yemeni groups in Riyadh upon request from Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi.
