Officials of alms (zakat) departments in the GCC countries have congratulated His Highness the Amir on his recent designation by the United Nations as an international "humanitarian leader." The officials addressed a cable in this respect to His Highness the Amir upon conclusion of their 13th meeting, held here. They also expressed congratulations on proclaiming Kuwait a "humanitarian center." Such an unprecedented overture by the United Nations came in appreciation for his major stances at the humanitarian and development levels, globally, they said in the cable.
