GCC social affairs

The 36th meeting of the undersecretaries of social affairs and labor ministries in the Gulf Cooperation Council states kicked off here Sunday.
"GCC has an impressive record of achievements in the social action," Undersecretary of Social Affairs and Labor Abdulmohsen Al-Mutairi said in the opening speech.
Al-Mutairi underlined the importance of cooperation to materialize Gulf countries' social development goals and upgrade the social work.
He pointed out that the meeting would tackle a wide array of key issues such as the legal framework of social work in GCC states, the evaluation system of family counseling centers, the care for people with special needs, children and elders.
He hoped the conferees would end up with a number of resolutions to bolster social security and justice.
For his part, Director General of the Executive Bureau of the GCC Social Affairs and Labor Ministers Council Aqeel Al-Jassem said that meeting tackles the issues on the agenda from an approach that takes into consideration the latest in the social sciences studies and the peculiarity of Arab Gulf societies.
He spoke highly of Kuwait and His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's initiative to give impetus to social work in the Gulf countries.
