The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) welcomed on Monday the appointment of former Yemeni prime minister Khaled Bahah as vice president to President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

Al-Arabiya television reported Bahah has already taken an oath before Hadi at the Yemeni embassy in Riyadh.

Bahah's new job may create hopes for a negotiated solution to the ongoing conflict.
