Gharbia security chief Osama Bedier denied reports on some websites claiming Moslem Brotherhood supporters had taken to the streets in Tanta on Saturday chanting slogans against the police and army.
The websites claimed they protested against rising prices and the constant power outages.
These reports are bare of truth and the security situation is calm, he said.
