The municipal council of Libya's Gharyan town dismissed Friday reports that the Libyan army is surrounding the town.
The news posted on social media and carried by a number of satellite channels is a rumor, the council said in a statement.
It held the satellite channels responsible for future consequences, if any, of the false news.
