Giza - Arab Today
The governorate of Giza in Egypt and Hiroshima city in Japan will sign a cooperation agreement within days to include the Egyptian city in the "Mayors for Peace" group.
Giza will thus become the fourth Egyptian city to join the group, said Governor Khaled Zakaria el Adli in a press conference Monday.
The other three cities are Luxor, Suez and Aswan, Adli noted.
Mayors for Peace is an international organization of cities dedicated to the promotion of peace that was established in 1982 at the initiative of then Mayor of Hiroshima Takeshi Araki, in response to the deaths of around 140,000 people due to the atomic bombing of the city on August 6, 1945.
