Zagazig Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced to death terrorist Adel Mohamed Abdel Rahim, known as Adel Habara, over shooting a policeman to death in Sharqia governorate.

The case was referred to Egypt's Mufti Shawki Allam on November 6 for a religious opinion; a procedural step taken in Egypt ahead of the official issuance of a death sentence.

This is not the first death sentence given to Habara since he was arrested in 2012. On November 14, Cairo Criminal Court sentenced to death Habara and others convicted of committing the second Rafah massacre in August 2013.

Habara was arrested in August 2013 while hiding in the North Sinai town of Arish.
