Hamas has called on Morocco to re-consider a planned visit by Israel's former president Shimon Peres to Rabat to partake in Clinton Global Initiative for the Middle East and North Africa.

"We wish Morocco, king and governor, to reconsider the visit," Fawzy Barhoum, spokesman for Hamas, said in press statements on Sunday.

He noted that Hamas is confident that Morocco will take an appropriate decision in support of the Palestinian people.

The visit will seek to beautify the face of Israel before the world, he said.
