Palestinian Prime Minister Rami Hamdallah underlined the importance of China's support for holding an international peace conference to urge halting Israeli settlement activities and setting a specific time schedule to establish an independent Palestinian state.
Hamdallah's remark came during his meeting with China's Special Envoy on the Middle East Issue Gong Xiaosheng on Sunday.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed the latest developments in the political process.
Hamdallah, meanwhile, briefed the Chinese envoy on the latest Israeli violations against the Palestinians.
He also urged China to exert greater efforts to compel Israel to suspend its violations and intervene to release Palestinian journalist Mohamed al Qiq, who has been on hunger strike for 68 days.
The Chinese envoy, for his part, voiced his country's keenness on attaining peace and stability in the region and finding a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause.
BRICS group, which is the acronym for an association of five major emerging national economies including Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, have unified stance toward the Palestinian cause and break the current impasse in the peace process, he added.
