Tamazight is the “link” between all the Algerians, said Thursday in Tizi Ouzou (103km east of Algiers ) the candidate of the Workers’ Party (PT) for the presidentialelection of April 17, Louisa Hanoune. “Tamazight is the link between all the Algerians and all the country’s regions,” saidHanoune in an electoral meeting organized at Tizi Ouzou’s arts centre.For her, “Tamazight origins exist in all the regions of the country,” adding that shemilitated so that there would be no referendum about the constitutionalization ofTamazight as a second national language because, she added, it is a “natural right.”While noting that her visit occurs a few days before the celebration of the 34thanniversary of the “Berber spring,” on April 20, Louisa Hanoune said that she had noresponsibility in the repression that accompanied the events of 2001, called the“black spring.”Hanoun called for a “local and municipal democracy” and for the State’s monopolyover the international trade, criticizing the process of Algeria’s accession to theWorld Trade Organization (WTO).
