High Egyptian elections committee

Egypt's High Elections Committee under Counselor Ayman Abbas will remain in constant session to follow up legislative amendments to elections laws after the issuance of Elections Constituency Division Law.

The committee referred the law to the general secretariat to prepare draft resolutions necessary for regulating the electoral process but in a way to be compatible with the new amendments, committee spokesman Omar Marwan said in a statement.

President Abdel El Fattah el Sisi approved Thursday amendments to the Elections Constituency Division law.

Under the amendment, Egypt will be divided into 205 constituencies under the individual system and four constituencies for the party-list seats.

The Elections Constituency Division law was ruled unconstitutional in March, which led to postponing parliamentary elections scheduled to be held 21 March.
