A homemade bomb went off targeting a police patrol in the interception of Ain Shams and Gesr El Suez streets in Cairo.
The explosion left a policeman and seven conscripts injured along with a civilian passerby, a security source told MENA.
They were taken to hospital while bomb disposal teams comb the area for other explosives.
