The House of Representatives Arab affairs committee, under Saad el Gammal, has asserted that peace and stability in the region require Israel's withdrawal from all occupied territories and establishment of a Palestinian state with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital.

In a statement after a meeting to discuss the latest developments in the Palestinian cause, the committee condemned the settlement activities in the Palestinian territories and Israeli claims that Al Quds is the eternal capital of the Jewish state.

The committee called on Egypt, in its capacity as the chair of the Security Council for this month and the president of the Arab summit, to work on activating the Security Council resolutions on achieving peace and to compel Israel to accept the two-state solution.

The committee also called on the Arab League to intensify contacts with the United States to apply pressure on Israel to sit at the negotiations table, stop settlement activities, lift the economic blockade imposed on the Palestinian people and end the killing of the Palestinians.

It also called for contacting the United Nations and UNESCO to compel Israel to end its aggression on religious institutions in Al Quds including Al Aqsa mosque.
