A huge fire erupted Friday in the Algerian city of Constantine just a week ahead of the "Constantine, capital of Arab culture 2015".

The fire led to the destruction of 40 retail outlets.

Attempts to control the fire lasted for more than three hours.

An investigation was opened to identify the reasons behind the fire.
